Prior to the Encouragement Weekend, Dr. Hensley might be
available to attend your church with his wife as "Surprise
Guests". They would attend unannounced and observe the Church
in the following areas:
Friendliness
Appearance of Facilities
Worship Flow
Assimilation
During the Encouragement Weekend, Dr. Hensley would share his
experience from the previous week with a goal to address areas of
concern and affirm areas of strength.
Dr. Hensley's Doctoral Project was in the area of Assimilation.

infrastructure problem when:
- A significant number of people are becoming inactive or are
transferring to other churches.
- Newcomers have difficulty gaining a sense of belonging.
- Enlisting workers is difficult.
- Minor conflicts destabilize the congregation's equilibrium, and
people leave the church.
- Pastoral care and visitation are primarily the responsibility of
the Pastor and staff.
- Attrition rate increases with pastoral changes.
- People's needs cannot be met through existing groups.
